Venice in Photos
When I went to Venice, it was after the end of my stay in France. It feels like forever ago. We went in November, off-tourist season, which was great. What was not so great was the severe flooding. It even made international news! Luckily, it had subsided just before we arrived, and every time we asked the locals about it, we were met with a shrug and an incredibly nonchalant "ehhhh, happens ev'ry year." Although you might not be able to tell from the photos below, here and there you can see some of the platform walkways that had yet to be put away.
Restaurant Recommendation: Although I don't have any photos that are good enough to share, my favorite meal in Venice was at the Osteria di Santa Marina. The restaurant is not too far from but still definitely not part of the usual tourist hubs, which meant that we were able to enjoy a relaxed and quiet meal with the restaurant almost entirely to ourselves except for a handful of Venetians. I had fritto misto, chestnut ravioli with black truffle, and a quartet of mini desserts similar to a café gourmand minus the café. Looking back, it was definitely the culinary highlight of our stay in Venice.
